A Brief History of Queen of Thanet Lodge.

 

Queen of Thanet Lodge was originally inaugurated in Westgate on Sea. The earliest date that can be traced is 1883 when it was Lodge 450 and met at the "Nottingham Castle" in Beach Road, Westgate.

When the Second World War began, most of the members enlisted into the Armed Forces and the Lodge was closed.The Lodge was reformed after the war as Lodge 722, and a new dispensation was granted.

The Lodge used many pubs in Westgate during its history, but today, the Lodge today shares permanent premises in Percy Road, Cliftonville with the Provincial Grand Lodge, three other primitive Lodges, the Lady Oak Leaves and the Druid's Social Club.

Queen of Thanet Lodge and St Aethelbyrht Lodges attend each other's meetings. Queen of Thanet Lodge meet four weekly on Thursday evenings, and St Aethelbyrht Lodge meet on the intervening Thursday              evenings, both at 8.00pm.
